the happy machine
The Happy Machine was commissioned by a private drama school called Bare Bones Theatre. The play was an adaptation/twist on the story of The Wizard of Oz. Our task was to design and create a ‘happy machine’ that could be puppeteered by one of the performers on stage.
The machine featured a moving head, lights, and ticklers, as well as a playable keyboard. Its design was inspired by the robots of the 80s and aspects of the Memphis movement.
